Auto-sync a folder to an event
Map a Dropbox folder to an event so every new photo dropped there appears in the gallery, plus manual sync and how to stop.
3 minNeeds: Dropbox connected in Connectors
Map a folder
- Open the event and press the Settings tab.
- In Dropbox Auto-Sync, open the folder list (press Select a folder…). It shows the top-level folders of the connected Dropbox account. If it says "No folders found", create one in Dropbox first.
- Choose the folder that will receive this event's photos, for example
/Weddings/Ananya-Rohan. - A confirmation asks Start Auto-Syncing this Folder? and reminds you that photos already in the folder will be imported too. Press Yes, start syncing. The toast reads Folder updated. Auto-sync is now active.
You can also switch on Dropbox Auto-Sync while creating the event.
What happens next
- VowPix checks the folder for new image files and copies each one into the gallery as an original.
- Faces are indexed on arrival, so guests can find photos while the event is still on.
- Synced photos land in All Photos. Move them into folders afterwards if you need to.
- Files you delete in Dropbox are not removed from the gallery, and photos you delete in VowPix are not removed from Dropbox.
Manual sync
Press Sync Now in the same panel to pull everything new immediately, for example right after exporting a batch from Lightroom. The toast reports how many files were processed.
Stop syncing
Press Stop auto-sync (or Change folder to pick another). The mapping is removed; photos already synced stay. Pick a folder again to restart.
Tips
- Use one folder per event, and never point two events at the same folder.
- Put only finished JPGs in the folder. RAW files are ignored, and duplicates are skipped by file name.
- Subfolders are included, so
/Weddings/Ananya-Rohan/Haldisyncs too.
