Wedding photo sharing app for Indian photographers

Updated · By Chethan Vasthaw Tippani, Founder, VowPix · 4 min read

The short answer

The best way to share wedding photos with guests in India is a private gallery where each guest finds their own photos with a selfie. With VowPix the photographer uploads each function once, prints one QR code for the venue, and guests see only the pictures they are in, in full resolution, while the couple and family get full access with their own PIN.

The problem with sharing wedding photos today

An Indian wedding is not one event. It is a haldi, a mehendi, a sangeet, the wedding itself and a reception, often across two or three days, with hundreds of guests and several thousand photos. Most studios still deliver this the same way: a Google Drive folder, a WeTransfer link, or batches dropped into a family WhatsApp group.

Each of those breaks in a predictable way. Guests scroll through thousands of photos to find the few they are in. WhatsApp compresses every picture. Drive links get forwarded to people the family never wanted to have them. And the photographer spends the week after the wedding answering "bhaiya, please send my photos".

How a wedding works on VowPix

Before the wedding

Create one event, for example "Ananya & Rohan", and pick its link: ananya-rohan.vowpix.in. Add folders for each function: Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet, Wedding, Reception. Choose the cover photo and switch on your studio branding. Download the guest QR code, or the ready-to-print A4 banner with your logo and the event name, and send it to the printer.

During the wedding

Put the QR standee at the entrance, near the stage and at the food counters. Guests scan it, take a selfie and see photos as soon as you upload them. Upload highlights between functions from your laptop, or connect a Dropbox folder so photos stream into the gallery as you copy them. If the family is streaming the pheras on YouTube, the same gallery link can show the live stream, so guests who could not travel watch on the same page.

After the wedding

Upload the full edited set into the right folders. Every guest who scanned earlier can tap Scan again to pick up the new photos. The couple and both families use the full-access PIN to see and download everything. Send the couple a private album selection link so they can heart the photos they want in the album, and download exactly those originals as a ZIP.

What guests experience

  1. Scan the QR at the venue, or open the link from the invite or a WhatsApp message.
  2. Enter the 4-digit guest PIN, or skip it when the link already includes the PIN.
  3. Fill a short check-in form if you have turned it on: name, mobile number, optional email.
  4. Take a guided selfie.
  5. See My photos, a personal gallery of every picture they appear in, and download originals or compressed copies.

Guests never install an app and never create an account. Older relatives manage it, because it is a camera and a few taps.

Why studios choose VowPix for weddings

  • Every guest finds themselves. Face search is included on every plan, including the free trial.
  • Original quality. Downloads are the exact files you uploaded, full resolution, with no compression.
  • Your brand, not ours. Your logo on the gallery and on the printable QR banner, your contact buttons on every screen, an optional watermark on previews (originals stay clean), and collaboration logos when you work with a venue or decorator.
  • Album selection built in. No more spreadsheets of file names. The couple hearts photos and you download the originals.
  • Leads from the wedding. Guests who check in appear in your dashboard with their contact details, exportable as CSV.
  • A free website. Every account includes a one-page studio website on yourname.vowpix.in with your gallery, packages, WhatsApp button and enquiry form.
  • Priced for Indian studios. Plans start at ₹199 a month, billed in rupees through Razorpay, with no commission on downloads.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share wedding photos with guests without Google Drive?

Use a private gallery with face search. Upload once, share one QR code or link, and each guest finds their own photos with a selfie. The complete guide walks through every option and when each one makes sense.

Can the bride and groom see all the photos?

Yes. Give them the full-access PIN. Full-access viewers see every photo and folder without a selfie, and you can skip the check-in form for them.

Can guests see photos during the wedding itself?

Yes. As soon as you upload, guests who scan the QR can find themselves. Many studios upload highlights between functions so guests can share pictures the same evening.

How many photos can one wedding have?

Each event can hold up to 20,000 photos, and every photo can be up to 70 MB. Your plan's storage decides how many weddings you can keep online at once.

Is it safe to use face recognition at a wedding?

Guests choose whether to take a selfie, and every guest agrees to a short privacy notice before their first scan. Their face data is used only inside that wedding's gallery, it is never used to train AI models, and the family can ask for deletion at any time. See the biometric consent policy.
