The quick answer
Use Google Drive when you need cheap, general storage, or when you are sending a complete set to one person, such as the couple or an album designer. Use VowPix when you are delivering an event to many people: it lets every guest find their own photos with a selfie, keeps the gallery private and branded, and handles album selection. They are not really competitors; Drive is a storage service and VowPix is a delivery service.
Disclosure: VowPix is our product. The Google Drive details below describe its standard sharing features as of November 2026.

Where Google Drive is the better choice
- Archiving. Drive is a sensible place to keep a backup of every wedding you have shot.
- One-to-one transfers. Sending the full set to the couple or to an album designer is simple.
- Non-photo files. Contracts, invoices and videos sit naturally in Drive.
- Cost at very small scale. If you deliver a few small shoots a year, free Drive storage may be enough.
Where VowPix is the better choice
- Large guest lists. When two hundred guests each want their own photos, a selfie search beats scrolling every time.
- Privacy. A guest PIN, a separate full-access PIN for the family, and the option to blur everything until a guest's own selfie matches give families much more control than a single shared link.
- Your brand. Every gallery carries your logo and contact buttons, so each wedding markets your studio to every guest who opens it.
- The album workflow. The couple hearts photos; you download exactly those originals.
- During the event. Guests can find photos while the wedding is still going on, from a QR code at the venue.
Using both together
A common setup for studios is:
- Keep the RAW files and final edits archived in Drive (or on your own disks).
- Upload the delivery set to VowPix, organised by function.
- Share the VowPix QR and link with guests, and the full-access PIN with the family.
- Send the couple an album selection link from VowPix, and use Drive only if the album designer prefers it.
If your final edits already sit in a Dropbox folder, VowPix can sync that folder into the gallery automatically, so you upload once.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Drive good for sharing wedding photos?
It is good for storing them and for sending the full set to the couple. It is not designed for guests: everyone scrolls through the whole wedding, and anyone with the link can see everything.
Does Google Drive compress photos?
Drive stores the original files you upload. The compression problem usually comes from sending photos through WhatsApp instead of sharing a link.
Can guests find their own photos in Google Drive?
Not by face. Drive has no way for a guest to search a shared wedding folder with a selfie. Folders per function help a little, but guests still scroll.
Is VowPix free?
There is a free trial with 2 GB of storage and 1,000 photos, enough to try a real event. Paid plans start at ₹199 a month. See the pricing page.
