# Android phone & cable setup

> The phone-side checks that make a camera show up in VowPix: data cable, OTG, the USB prompts and background running.

Do these once on the phone. They work for every camera brand.

**1. Use a data cable**

Plug a USB-C data cable from the camera straight into the phone. No hubs, no charge-only cables.

**2. Turn on OTG**

If your phone has an OTG switch: Settings, search "OTG", turn it on. Some phones switch it off again after a while.

**3. Choose VowPix**

If Android asks which app should open the camera, pick VowPix and tick Always.

**4. Allow USB access**

Tap OK when Android asks to let VowPix use the camera.

**5. Let it run with the screen locked**

Settings, Apps, VowPix, Battery: choose Unrestricted. Then photos keep uploading in your pocket.

## Another app keeps grabbing the camera

**1. Close Files and Gallery**

Open Recents and swipe away Files, Gallery and any other camera app.

**2. Plug in again, choose VowPix**

Unplug the cable, plug it back in, and pick VowPix if Android asks.

**3. Check it is syncing**

Tap Check connection below. The status should turn green.
